Thousands of demonstrators – mostly from Wisconsin, but from as far away as Iowa, Illinois and Pennsylvania – descended here to spend an afternoon of chanting, marching and debating whether public employee unions should still be allowed to negotiate their benefits. ... several Iowans were also in attendance including Democratic Minority House Leader Kevin McCarthy. McCarthy said he drove here on Friday to show his support for public employee unions, but also to prepare for an upcoming battle over the same issues in Iowa.
