Terry Branstad is engaging in a deceptive campaign to inflate Iowa job growth numbers. Progress Iowa, which claims 2,000 members statewide, said a fabricated statistic, labeled “gross over-the-month employment gains,” has been added to a spreadsheet produced by Iowa Workforce Development, beginning in February 2011. The newly created category is not recognized by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.
