University Committee on Disability

The University Committee on Disability is responsible for sharing knowledge concerning disabilities with the University community, for fostering awareness of the needs of persons with disabilities, and for advocating ways to meet these needs. Local 96 has one representative.

The Local 96 representative on this committee is Pat Hahn, who is a secretary in the Admissions office working with campus visits.

Gold Room, MU 3-4pm

Tent cards were distributed and new members to the committee were welcomed.

Steve Moats briefly discussed Disability Awareness Week and asked for volunteers to form a sub-committee assist with planning.  I did volunteer.

The remainder of the meeting was used to complete and ongoing project of reviewing a Disability Survey.

Committee met on Wednesday, August 3 from 3:00pm to 4:30pm.
Report by Andy Bock, who attended to represent Local 96 until a permanent appointment can be made.

The committee worked on refining a survey to assess the campus climate and awareness of resources for persons with different abilities on the ISU Campus.  Some suggested items for the survey will be taken back for approval by Carla Espinoza, who was not able to attend.

Future meetings are expected to be held monthly on the First Wednesday of the month.
