As state appropriations and ISU revenues are reduced, the
elimination/reduction of clerical positions may be considered by
ISU administration.
In order to prepare for and monitor any reduction of
clerical positions due to budget cuts, AFSCME Local 96 has
established a RIF (Reduction in Force) Committee. This
committee will monitor the process used to eliminate or
reduce clerical full-time and part-time positions at ISU. We
want to be prepared to act if/when any violations of the
Joint Agreement between the State of Iowa and Contract Covered
Employees are proposed or implemented as a result of reducing clerical
positions at ISU.
From time to time, ISU administration may provide information to Local 96 for review regarding plans for reducing or eliminating clerical positions at ISU (in conjunction with the Office of the Governor of Iowa and AFSCME Council 61). This information will be reviewed and responded to, as required, and will be kept confidential, as required. In addition to information provided by management, we also welcome information and questions ASFCME members or employees in affected positions may have about possible elimination or reductions. All inquiries and information provided will be kept confidential. We are providing a form (see below) for you to use
to share information or ask questions. We look
forward to hearing from you. NOTE: It is important NOT to use ISU employer supplied e-mail services, or to disrupt your assigned work duties when forwarding information or making inquiries. If you have a message you wish to forward to the Local 96 RIF Committee, we prefer if you cut/paste the information into the form below. |
