2013 Women's Conference - Denver

July 23, 2013

Dear Sisters and Brothers,

I am writing to you today to invite you to attend the AFSCME Women’s Conference, September 20 – 22, 2013 in Denver, Colorado.

The Women’s Conference is a great opportunity to develop strategies to meet AFSCME’s goals, particularly protecting retirement security. The Women’s Conference focuses on how to develop activism amongst women in AFSCME and encourage women to become Union leaders.

AFSCME Iowa Council 61 is organizing a bus to the AFSCME Women’s Conference. If you are interested in taking the bus, you will need to RSVP to Denise Raymond at the Council Office (515-246-1517 or draymond@afscmeiowa.org) by close of business on August 16, 2013. We will also need to receive a check for $150 to cover your bus costs by the close of business on August 16, 2013 (drop off or mail checks to AFSCME Iowa Council 61, Attn: Denise Raymond, 4320 NW 2nd Avenue, Des Moines, IA 50313). If we are able to fill the bus, you will receive a partial refund because the cost per rider will be lower. If we do not have enough bus riders by August 16th, we will cancel the bus and notify you in order to give you time to make alternative arrangements.

You will be responsible for your own lodging and meals as those costs are not included in the $150 figure.

The Women’s Conference is open to all AFSCME members, both women and men.

A flier you can distribute to your sisters and brothers can be downloaded using this link.

I hope to see many AFSCME Iowa Council 61 members in Denver in September!

In Solidarity,

Danny Homan, President
AFSCME Iowa Council 61
